List building is one area of marketing I know I should be doing but, to be honest, I'm not really sure where to start with it. I know I can get an account with Aweber but what do I do after that?

It scares me a little to be honest. Help!

You must've heard the mantra "The money is in the list!" - well, a truer word was never spoken - and it's equally true to say you need an autoresponder to build a list. You mentioned Aweber which is probably the best known and no doubt one of the best - (personally I use
GetResponse which I find more than satisfactory.) Once that's done you can commence listbuilding. There are many and varied ways of going about this - one of the easiest ways is to get involved in Giveaways - then, when you reach, say, around 500 subscribers, start doing
adswaps. There's a helluva lot more you could do, but doing the above works fairly quickly and easily and with very little cost involved.

For details of Giveaways try: http://www.newjvtalent2010.infohere.biz
For items to giveaway try: http://www.resellrightsfortune.infohere.biz
and/or: http://www.infohere.biz/resellforprofit (free 1 year Gold membership on me.)
For Adswap details: try: http://www.IMAdSwaps.com, and/or http://www.listswapper.com
For Getresponse: http://www.getresponse.infohere.biz
For a Great List Building Site: http://www.elistsecrets.infohere.biz (free paid membership on me.) enter Coupon Code: 2d3421d24d40379f

I think maybe the above is more than enough to be going on with (info overload is not good). Any problems with these - please let me know.

Meanwhile, you may get further responses from other TMN members. Hopefully they'll add to what I've said here - and I trust they'll say whether they agree or disagree with me - that's what these discussions are all about.
You should try some or all of the above. But, whether you do or not, please shop around.
(You should know that some of the above links (but not all) are my affiliate/JV links). Good Luck to you, from BillyDee Molloy

Hi BillyDee great tips and resources a couple of which are new to me.

Another method I use involves twitter.

Now quite a few people have a go at twitter and I admit there are a lot of spammers on there and you have to filter out the noise to have a good experience.

My method is to get followers who interact with you. I have over 23,000 followers (not all human I am sure) and many retweet my jokes and quotes on a daily basis.

I also direct these followers to my blog regularly to download free guides to blogging and twitter. Once these people are on my list I contact them regularly with tips and now and again marketing messages which they don't mind as I have provided a lot of value.

The key to twitter is not to hit followers with affiliate links or direct messages - this just insults people as they don't even know you yet so why should they line your pockets by buying something through your link?

Right...off to check the links from BillyDee now!

Cheers
Keith

The biggest takeaway I got from Keith Dean's post is that he provides a ton of value to his subscribers.

Focus on giving them value and they will become your raving fans.

Here's another thing about lists...

You don't need one to make money.

There are plenty of ways to achieve wealth online that do not involve building a list at all.

So don't think you won't succeed if you don't build a list.

However, having a list definitely does make it easier as you have access to free traffic on demand.
